Trilegal advised Carlyle Group on the acquisition of a majority stake in VLCC Health Care Limited (VLCC). VLCC is a leading wellness & beauty services and products organisation founded by Mrs. Vandana Luthra in 1989, with customers across 310 locations in 143 cities. Trilegal advised an American private equity (PE) firm and an American wealth management firm in filing a suit before the Delhi High Court
The American firms sought a permanent injunction to restrain unknown defendants (referred to as John Doe/Ashok Kumar) from operating infringing domain names that incorporated the firms’ trade names. In both cases, the unknown persons were misusing the client’s name to extort money from and dupe innocent persons. The Delhi High Court passed favourable orders in both cases, injuncting the defendants from passing off the trademarks of the firms and infringing the copyright of the firms in relation to the content and logos.

Trilegal successfully represented the client before the district courts of Delhi and secured summary disposal of a copyright infringement suit instituted ex-parte by a software company seeking permanent injunction, rendition of accounts, damages and costs, before the District Judge, Commercial Court, Saket, New Delhi. Trilegal secured a vacation of the injunction and a dismissal of the suit on the first date after it entered appearance on behalf of the US based engineering firm.
