On 4 November 2024, the Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Officer, Gurugram issued a directive mandating all government and non-government organisations in Gurugram to submit the annual report required under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) for every calendar year by 28 February of the subsequent year.

Failure to submit this report in a timely manner would attract a penalty of INR 50,000. The directive also emphasises that strict action will be initiated against non-compliant organisations.

The POSH Act requires the internal committee of every employer to prepare and submit an annual report every calendar year to the respective District Officer. This annual report must include the following:

  • number of complaints of sexual harassment received in the year;
  • number of complaints disposed off during the year;
  • number of cases pending for more than 90 days;
  • number of workshops or awareness programme against sexual harassment carried out; and
  • nature of action taken by the employer.

The timeline for submission of this report in Gurugram for the previous calendar year 2023 was 30 April 2024. This timeline now stands revised to 28 February 2025 for the current calendar year 2024. All employers operating in Gurugram must adhere to this timeline to ensure POSH compliance.
