Overview

Shameer is a Partner in Trilegal’s Dispute Resolution practice. His wide experience in dispute resolution extends to commercial litigation, arbitration, real estate litigation, labour and employment disputes and criminal law.

As an experienced arguing counsel, he regularly appears before various fora and provides end to end representation and advise to clients in different contentious situations. He has successfully defended and prosecuted arbitrations concerning breach and enforcement of contracts, construction disputes relating to large infrastructure and public utility projects, real estate disputes and employment disputes.

He has achieved favourable outcomes for numerous clients in white-collar disputes, including securing orders for property release, unfreezing bank accounts, granting bail, and quashing First Information Reports and Charge Sheets. He regularly advises corporate clients in criminal investigations and assists in prosecuting and defending criminal complaints which deal with offences relating to cybercrimes, data or IP theft, and economic offences.

  • Representing and advising Automattic INC. in a claim by Vyakti Vikas Kendra, India for defamation and breach of provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Intermediary Guidelines
  • Representing Piramal Capital and Housing Finance Ltd in several litigations which raise important questions regarding the effect of the approval of a resolution plan under the provisions of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 on the claim of dissenting depositors
  • Advised and represented a leading multinational for pursuing a criminal investigation in relation to a phishing attack on its servers based in India
