Overview
Ramakant Rai is a Partner at our Delhi office. He has diverse experience in mergers and acquisitions, debt funding, restructuring and insolvency resolution, with a particular focus on Government and public sector.
Ramakant has represented leading multinational companies, as well as Government and public sector entities, including Maharatna and Navratna companies, in various deals. He has assisted several financial institutions in various debt-funding transactions. He has also advised various resolution professionals, creditors including public sector banks, financial institutions, and resolution applicants on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. He has assisted several financial institutions in various debt funding transactions
With over 17 years of experience, Ramakant has built a remarkable portfolio of high-stakes transactions, project financing and policy-shaping engagements. His in-depth understanding of legal frameworks related to public policy and applicable laws enables him to effectively navigate the unique challenges faced by Government agencies and Public Sector Undertakings. He has spearheaded several landmark transactions and reforms, solidifying Trilegal’s position as a trusted advisor to public entities.
Ramakant routinely advises various Government agencies and Public Sector Undertakings, such as the Government of India, Ministry of Railways, Power Finance Corporation, NTPC Limited, REC Limited, and others. He has assisted the various departments of Central and State Governments in formulating and reshaping policies, rules, and the overall regulatory framework.
He primarily focuses on providing comprehensive solutions that are both efficient and value-driven to Government and Public Sector Undertakings. His strategic insight combined with practical execution, uniquely positions him to navigate the complexities of the public sector. He has also been the international legal counsel to the IFC, World Bank, and governments of various jurisdictions.
