Trilegal provided strategic counsel to Flipkart on Indian competition law aspects concerning a minority investment by a Google subsidiary, successfully ensuring a smooth regulatory clearance.
This investment represents a significant step towards fostering collaborations aimed at accelerating the digitisation of India’s economy. It will also support Flipkart, in modernising its digital infrastructure to deliver seamless services to customers across the country.
Flipkart is a subsidiary of Walmart Inc., which through its subsidiaries is primarily engaged in the business of wholesale cash and carry of goods, and providing marketplace-based e-commerce platforms to facilitate trade between customers and sellers in India.
The acquiring entity, a Google subsidiary, is a holding company that does not directly own or operate any of Google’s tech products or services. Google is a global company offering a variety of digital products and platforms, including in India.
